Evangelism is the Foundation for every Church

Evangelism is the Foundation for every Church is a Bible study/article on how the church is founded and how it grows.

This page is a summary of my tract by the same name.

Note that I am only briefly touching on the main sections of this tract, please go there to read it in its entirety.

It is unrealistic that some Christians believe that their church can exist without growth. There are church members that see new people in their group as a threat to them somehow. This is a lack of understanding what God wants the church to be and function.

Matt 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Principle Focus of the Church: The Gospel

The church is fraud and is nothing if there is not a clear understanding of salvation and the gospel. This means that in the preaching, among its members, this is a living faith that is seen in the people involved, as well as a central theme of the preaching and teaching of the church.

The Church has a Divine Purpose, that is to show the Love of God

John 21:15… Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Jesus made it very clear in this exchange with Peter that Peter’s love for Christ is shown by his love and life spent in caring for Jesus’ redeemed, the church.

The Gospel is the Heart of Every Church

Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

We cannot understand our mission in the life as a believer if we ignore the unsaved around us.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

We are not to be ashamed of our faith, and that should manifest itself in our evangelism.

The New Testament Pattern

John 1:41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

Evangelism is a natural consequence of the person being saved.

The Slowness of the Jews

The Jews really did not spend much energy on witnessing the greatness of God to the world. God judged them for that. Continued here
